Who we are
Hyde Park Source is on a mission to improve people’s health and wellbeing through improving the environment. For over 25 years we have supported and delivered environmental community-led projects across Leeds.

Our vision is simple:

People living in healthy communities, with opportunities to connect and live in harmony with each other and nature.
 
What we do

Community Gardening Groups
We run weekly Community Garden groups for adults across  the city. These sessions are open to everyone and offer a welcoming way to meet new people, spend time outdoors and learn new skills.

Design and Build
We work collaboratively with volunteers, communities and clients to design and build outdoor spaces for food growing, play and recreation. 

Outdoor Education
We run outdoor activities for kids including after school and holiday clubs, with a focus on nature connection, play and wellbeing.

Networks and Research
We develop networks and collaborate with research that is working towards social change, creating a healthier and happier world.

    Meet the team

Our story
Hyde Park Source began in 1998, when a small group of neighbours in Burley, Leeds transformed their shared bin yard into a garden. Others saw what was possible and were inspired to do the same.

That original spirit of grassroots action and community empowerment continues to guide everything we do today.
 
Our Principles
Our work is shaped by five core principles:
Connect · Be Active · Take Notice · Keep Learning · Give

These principles guide how we work with people, communities and the natural environment. They are known as the ‘5 ways to wellbeing’ – we have created our own version of these inspired by the 12 permaculture principles.

Our Legal Status 
We are a Community Benefit Society with exempt charitable status, registered with the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA): link. In short that means that we operate for the benefit of the community and any profits are reinvested or used for community good.
