OUR COMMUNITY GARDENS

We have an induction process for our groups so please do not turn up without prior contact. If you have attended a group in the past then please contact the session facilitator and they can let you know if there is space for you to return.

Please note that for the Kirkstall and Chapeltown gardens these are Live Well Leeds groups and have a different referral process - click on each site to learn more.

Want to get Outdoors, Active and Well?

We are committed to increasing the potential of individuals and communities.  Volunteers are integral to what we do and we have a number of opportunities available.  We run 6 weekly gardening groups in Leeds.  As a community garden volunteer you will :

Get Outdoors:
Join a weekly community group, get some fresh air and  learn new skills

Be Active:
Improve your fitness, make a change in your community and connect with local people

Feel Well:
Improve or maintain your wellbeing in a relaxed and safe environment whilst giving and receiving informal peer support.

We are committed to following best practice and guidelines for volunteering and have received our Volunteer Kite Mark.

  • Groups are free, weekly and take place all-year-round
  • Each group is run by a staff member who makes sure everyone is safe and understands the tasks
  • Groups are 2 hours long. We start and finish on time and need your help to set up and pack down punctually.
  • We work on site as a group of up to 15 Volunteers doing different tasks, which means people are sometimes spread out.  You can usually chose what task you want to do, and work either as a group or on your own.
  • Staff can’t offer one-to-support, if you need extra support in the garden, please contact us to discuss.
  • If you have any questions or if you’re not sure whether Community Gardening is for you, feel free to get in touch! volunteer@hydeparksource.org
