Nuts and Bolts
We are a 'Community Benefit society' registered under the Co-operatives and Community Benefit Societies Act 2014.
Previous to this we were an Industrial and Provident Society registered under the FCA Mutual Public Register #28755R. We are also registered with HMRC under the reference XR25734.
We have a membership made up of volunteers and stakeholders who each year, at our AGM, vote for a Management Committee who are responsible for strategic oversight and scrutiny of operational matters. This Committee meets quarterly and ensures that HPS is being run in line with its constituted aims, is financially solvent and is observing best practices as laid out in our policies and procedures.
Our accounting year runs from 1st January to 31st December with Accounts and Management Committee Reports being produced each year by a registered Accountant. The latest accounts can be viewed below.
We are a membership organisation and wherever possible we make decisions by consensus. We aim to have between 5-10 members of the Management Committee.
Our full time week is Tuesday- Friday 30 Hours. We have found that our staff are happier and more effective having this work life balance.
We are funded through a mix of grants and generated income through work with Community Groups and Schools. We are also looking to develop our training offer to supplement this income.
Our future plans include renovating our HQ at 2 Rosebank Rd to incorporate a Community Tool Bank and improved facilities for delivering training courses and hosting volunteers.
