We have been blessed with good weather for the first two Rosebank Rangers sessions. It is very Autumnal at the moment and the sessions have worked around this theme. . It has been beautiful on the Rosebank with the fiery colours and crunchy carpet. Leaves are everywhere and they have many uses. Not only do they keep the tree’s alive they tell us what type of tree it is. The fallen leaves make a healthy soil with the help of our wormy friends.
The sessions have had a quite start but the first of the Rangers and their parents have had lots of fun doing leafy activities. We tided up the terraces and explored the bank armed with rakes and a builders sack. We built a leaf bin out of hazel stakes and chicken wire. The best part of the day was filling the leaf bin and bouncing on the pile to squash it down. With the willow fence finished and the leaf bin filling up the terraces are becoming a really nice space. We planted bulbs along the edge of the bed so that in spring we will have some food for the bee’s!
We are looking for more Rangers to join the team so get in touch if you want to join in. Spaces are limited so don’t wait till it’s too late! Wednesday Afterschool sessions will begin in the Rosebank primary playground. Lookout for posters for the next weekend session!
