Last Thursday Hyde Park Source held its first ever Summer Gala! Although the weather was certainly on our side, the days success was due to the fantastic support we had from our volunteers and local organizations in Leeds.
Reaction Sound System -The amazing bike powered sound system was a huge hit. Using the leg power of enthusiastic guests, the Rosebank was host to the smooth sounds of Makakanitza and Behla & Emma. Thanks to Tom and all his hard work organizing the bikes. And to the fantastic musicians!
The Real Junk Food Project- The gang at Leeds's PAYF cafe came up trumps, providing a feast of delicious sandwiches, salads, puddings and smoothies! The food tasted that much better knowing that it had been saved from the bin.
If you haven't already, go check out The Real Junk Food cafe!
Other people to thank include: Artlink, for the use of their indoor space and kettles for the all important Tea and Coffees! Debbie from Dtcrafts and Hannah from Armley Mills, who taught guests how to use natural dyes to make their own felt! Pablo, our amazing children's entertainer who ran the hotly contested paper airplane competition. Freda and Barbara, from the Little Woodhouse association, whose cakes were lovely. Sam and Harley, the Rosebank's latest graffiti artists. The team from Groundwork, who kept the little ones entertained all afternoon with natural games.
And finally thanks to you guys who came to the Gala and ate the cakes, made the felt, gobbled the sandwiches and powered the bikes!! We had and a great time and can't wait to do it again next year!
