Another week has come to an end, and once again we have much to tell you about. To start with on Tuesday we headed down the Leeds recovery academy. We met here with most of the group from grow together. While we were there we met any new faces and played a spider web game, by throwing some thread across and around the circle and asking the questions about to each other. As we got further and further into the game the thread build up more and more, making it look like a spiders web. The significance of this game showed how each one of our questions and answers can be linked and intertwined.
After a tea break, we talked about the potential development of the balcony outdoor area in the academy. The plan is to develop it into a new area with raised beds, some tables and chairs as well as whatever else people want to be included. We had a session planning on paper what people thought they would want, and after coming back together we collated the main ideas of people to create an overall plan for the area. It was a nice session seeing what people wanted to get from the outdoor area and how they wished to use the space.
On Wednesday there had been a dump of snow in the night, so the Mencap session did not seem likely, therefore we were in the office creating a mosaic sign for the Mencap area. This consisted of planning what we wanted the sign to say, measuring the tiles, and then breaking up the tiles so that they fitted into the pattern that we wanted. By the end of the session we were left with a good outline of what we wanted, we just have next week to begin to stick them down before it really begins to take shape.
thursday was alittle different compared to our normal thursday groups. instead of going out to cross-green we set out to Killing Beck to meet Luke for the day. the group we had today was from Bright Futures, a group of young people all trying to do something good and give back to the community. so we split the group into two, half went to the orchard to do some maintance to the oplant and tyhe other half headed for the alloments to do some painting and clearing out. the group was great, everyone done their fair share and enjoyed the session (as far as we know hahaha). the session finished up around 2 and then from 3-5 we had the killingbeck after school's group where we took a walk around the vally to do some apple picking.
friday became another day of mosaic's. we decided to repair an old mosaic on a wall down the Rosebank which was falling apart. so we sushed out the admount of space we had to work with and came up with a group design for the new mosaic. We stuck with the nature theme creating flowers, leafs, insects and other nature related fetures. thankfully we had plenty of help today with a good admount of volenteers showing up to help with the process.
Well, thanks it, another week done and dusted. its hard to believe that we only have another 2 weeks left to go, so we have to make sure there worth with :)
