Here we are, at the end of your journey with HPS. We really don’t know where to start when looking back over our time here, it has been such a terrific and rewarding experience overall and we both have got such positive memories and thoughts to take away from HPS, and not a bad word to be said. From the people we have worked with, to the knowledge we have gained on our placement here, will defiantly remember our time spend here.
Our final week was fun filled and exciting, although a touch sad at the same time as we had to say goodbye for now to our groups. We hope that we have made a difference in all the groups we have worked with and that we have left our mark behind before he go. We are both hoping that when we return to Leeds in January again, we’ll be able to make time during our dissertation to come down for a day and see everyone again and check out how the groups are getting on.
We would be like to take this chance to thank everyone here at HPS for taking us under their wing for this placement and guiding us along the way, especially Behla who looked after us the entire time. We got so much help and support throughout our whole time here we really don’t think we could of got a better final year placement. From the very start right up to our last day we were always welcomed with open arms and a smile.
So it was our last day and we headed down to the Grow Together allotment in order to finish replacing the old hut. We have spent a few days getting it together, and it was a very enjoyable experience making something that we know will be used and will stay there for some time to come.
So there it is, our final university placement done and dusted, now it’s time to go back to the reality of uni work and our dissertation’s, Wooohhh!! Hopefully it fly’s by as fast as the placement did hahaha
Well we hope you enjoyed keeping up dated with us and reading our blog over this past 9 weeks, and thank you all for taking an interest in what we were doing, but for now and one last time, were officially signing off.
Take care and goodbye :)
So were nearly there! 8 weeks of our time at H.P.S completed and only one more to go. Where has that time gone, it seems like only yesterday that we started here and all of a sudden our times over already. Although we really enjoyed this week the weather did put up a fight with us. We had wind, rain and even snow on Friday, and let me tell you, it was COLD! But anyway, we’ll head back to the start of the week where on Tuesday we meet the Grow Together group down at the Recovery Academy. The session was based outside mainly on the (to-be) roof top garden where we cleaned up the old plant pots to see what we could reuse, and we also rescued a few old plants who were on their last legs, so hopefully we have given them another life. At the end of the session we all walked up to the allotment for a check-up to make sure everything is ok. When up there, the group had a bit of a chat about some of their backgrounds and told some of their stories, and it really was truly amazing to hear what these normal everyday people have been through and to see and hear how far they have come as human beings, these truly are inspirational people and this was such a nice way to end the day.
Hey guy's, it's Eddie Olphert & Eoin Ruddy here and this is our placement blog. we are both 3rd year students from Leeds Beckett University studying Youth Work and Community Development. The two of us love being outdoors and getting our hands dirty with nature!
